  July 1986 "Divine Peace" Convention, featuring M.G. Henschel

  the date: july 3-6th, 1986.

  (a hot 4th of july weekend) this was the "divine peace" district convention.. location: the capital centre, landover, maryland.

  usa.. my age at the time: 6 yrs old.. the wt representative giving the keynote address: none other than vp of watchtower, milton g. henschel.

  Because of the talks we was hearing on the GB I think this was the time my wife and I said "If they replace the Jesus with the GB that will but up a big red flag for us." I guess we did not see that red flag sooner like I was hoping for. It took another 20 years for us to start waking up. Still Totally ADD

  my grandfather only had a third grade education and knew little about the bible when jws called on him.

  he was a different breed of jw than those of modern times.

  he truly cared about people and would give them the shirt off his back.

  I am so sorry for what your grand dad went through. Londo I wish you the best. It sounds like you had a close relationship with him. That makes you a lucky man. This cult takes so much from us and gives nothing back. I am sad for your grand father for this. Because of this cult I never really knew my grand dad's. My parents would not let me know them because they was not part of this cult. I hope you do get to see him again. That is a wonderful thought to hold on to. Always think of the good things he did and how you had a grand father who really cared for you. Thank you for sharing this with all of us. Take Care. Still Totally ADD

  All good points blondie. I think cult thinking is when it happens to them it's satan. If it happens to those who leave the cult it has to be god's judgement on the person. In the real world I know it does not matter who or what you are we all have things happen to us. Whether they are bad or not. Thanks for your imput. Still Totally ADD

  Rutherford's last book "Children" 1941- Advice DONT HAVE KIDS...Where it all started!

  watchtower 1941 sept. 15 p.283, 288 "in front of the convention platform the children recieving there free gift (copy) not as a play thing but as the lords instrument for the work in the remaining months before armagedon..." so what lovely message did the kids get from judge rutherford?

  children 1941page 281 "no children were taken onto noah's ark...it is proper to wait until after armagedon to have children...its only afew more years till armagedon..." the book concluded.

  "(john and his girlfriend talk) ...armagedon is surely near our hope is within afew years our marriage will be consumated and we will have sweet children...we will defer marriage and pioneer ...we will not see each other for a time.." thats why i dont have kids it all started with this fools book!.

  Back in the 1980's we had a sister in our hall who was getting married for the first time at the age of 60. She told me she was one of the children who went up to the stage and got her copy of the children book. She said she really believe what rutherford was saying and now here I am 60 years old still a virgin getting married. You could hear the sadness in her voice. Very sad, very sad for those back then.
